despite getting a late start to my day, i managed to make it to the free “fourth friday” hours (5-8pm) at the portland art museum yesterday. my wonderful mom came along with me and with ellsworth kelly’s prints & a collection of california impressionists as featured exhibits, it felt like the museum had picked art just for the two of us. my understanding of said art is limited, at best, but i remain awed by the detail and technique of the 18th century neoclassical and 19th century romantic paintings. (in stark contrast to the “huh?!” feeling i get whenever i try to analyze modern art.)very highbrow.
